Asher's Birth Story

As previously mentioned we began our induction process on 11/15/14 at 5:00 p.m. We checked into the hospital around 4:45 and began our paperwork.

Cytotec (oral medicine) was administered at 6pm-10pm-2am, and pitocin was
started at 6am 11/16. When I arrived I had not dilated any further than a 1 and my cervix was very posterior. This baby wasn't dropping which made me think the cord was possibly around the neck or they weren't in the correct position to put pressure on my cervix!

I was checked before the pitocin began and I had dilated 3-4, thank The Lord! The next 5 hours my contractions got stronger (remember NO PAIN MEDS OR EPIDURAL!), and more frequent and became harder to manage. Each time they checked me I had not progressed. This was discouraging. I told Jarrod at my next check if I had not changed I was going to need something to manage my pain.

Around 11:30 I was checked and the nurse was excited... I was dilated to 6cm and my cervix had began to move forward! Praise God this was just the encouragement I needed to keep going!!

The next several hours were a blur as I began to transition. Jarrod kept me as comfy as possible, he's an amazing partner! Around 2:45 it finally became time to push.... We were prepared to push a few times and have a baby since it went so well with G.

ONE HOUR LATER, still no baby. We discovered he was face up instead of face down which meant he was working against me trying to push him out! I was defeated. Exhausted. Frustrated. I had lost hope that I could deliver this baby.

My doctor decided we needed to take a break... She came back in around 4:15 and was very serious with me. She said "Lindsey you have 15 minutes to push this baby out or I'm doing a csection"... That's what it took. At 4:42 pm on 11/16/14 I pushed out Asher Boone Evans!

Of course the drama doesn't stop there.....baby boy had the cord around his neck and my doctor immediately cut it off and freed him. She held him up so we could see the gender and he had his legs crossed! An eternity (or 5 seconds) later I saw it was a him and proclaimed "ITS A BOY!!!".

My doctor began to hand him to me and he acted like he was choking and his eyes rolled back. Scary few minutes there but the nursery nurses stimulated and suctioned him and he let out a whimper, music to our ears!

Once we laid eyes on him we knew he was a big boy. He tipped the scales at 10 pounds and 3 ounces, he was 22 inches long. I'm still in shock I birthed a 10 pound baby!!

Asher Boone had a very dramatic delivery and we are so thankful God kept his hand on us all! We love our sweet boy and he's definitely a mommas boy!!

Blessed.

41 weeks! (JK)

Today I would have been 41 weeks pregnant with Baby Evans... However my doctor and I decided to begin the induction process on 11/15 at 6:00 pm. I truly wanted to wait longer but Saturday night worked best for everyone. I'm sure glad I didn't wait a day longer!

Graceyn came the day before her due date so when this one was late I began to wonder if our dates were off? It's a second child it's supposed to come earlier right??? WRONG.

When my doctor kept saying how high up the baby was I began to wonder why. I had already concluded that the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and they were possibly face up (but head down) in position. Neither of these are too serious, so I wasn't too worried.

I will post a separate post with our birth story. I'm not a fan of inductions, especially ones that seem unnecessary. And I really wanted another all natural, medicine free delivery and I was determined to TRY that with my induction.

All that matters is a healthy baby in the end and boy did I get that. Meet ASHER BOONE EVANS, my son! Born 11/16/14 at 4:42 pm weighing in at a whopping 10 pounds and 3 ounces!! Birth story to come.....

40 weeks!

How far along? 40 weeks! Never been here before, Graceyn was born at 39 weeks 6 days!!

Symptoms: Acid reflux, legs are very swollen! Braxton Hicks all the time!

Total Weight gain/loss: Who knows. I weigh in tomorrow! Still very swollen, not as bad since I'm not working as much!

Sleep: I turn all night long. Can't stay comfortable. Hips hurt and hands fall asleep. Boo! Wake up at least once to pee!

Food Cravings: Not really craving anything! I do love to eat though. Definitely not slacking up there!

Best Moment this week: The crib is
ready, bags are packed, just waiting on baby!

Movement: It moves a lot but you can tell it has nowhere to go lol

Labor signs: None! I had started to dilate at my last appointment, shouldn't be much longer!

Gender: No clue and not finding out! We've got our names nailed down.... Can't wait to see if it's ABE or PJE

Belly button in or out: It's working on making its way out. The top part is partially out.

What I miss: Putting my shoes on easily lol.. Being able to bend over and breathe at the same time haha. Getting comfortable. Being able to get out of a chair without flailing around haha!!

What I am looking forward to: Meeting our son or daughter!

Milestones: Another week down! We will be a family of 4 within 2 weeks!

Weekly wisdom: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you"..... Praying for a healthy end to this pregnancy!

Blessed.
