Asher 1 month!

My baby giant is one month old! What a whirlwind month it has been...

Asher you just moved to size 2 diapers, and you weigh at least 14 pounds! Hence the nick name baby giant!! You nurse every 2-3 hours throughout the day and at night you will give me one 3-4 hour stretch and then you're up every 2 hours!

You and sister have both been sick for a few weeks. This resulted in doctor visits and antibiotics for you both! Hopefully this will take care of it!

Speaking of sister, she's adjusting to you pretty well. You're starting to notice her too! I can't wait to watch you all grow together!

You love your mommy the most but you're starting to enjoy daddy's company too! The next few weeks we are going to transition you to sleeping in your rock and play so that mommy can sleep in her own bed! We are currently sleeping in the recliner!

Asher you are a totally different baby than Graceyn was, and I thank you for that! (G was a TERRIBLE baby, we loved her anyway!). You're very laid back and only cry when you want something! We can't wait to see what this next month holds!

Blessed.

Hi!

Hello from this new mother of two! It's a definite adjustment plus I'm playing single mom while Jarrod is out of town!

Both kids are sick with snotty noses so that makes this even more fun!! Hope to post a real update soon! Until next time...

Life!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, we sure did as a family of FOUR!!

We had a very low key holiday. One family dinner per day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! It was nice!!

Graceyn is adjusting well to being a big sister. She wants to love on her brother, maybe a little too roughly sometimes!

And I'm adjusting to raising two children... Slowly adjusting ;) Asher had his two week doctor appointment this week. He weighed 10 lbs, 12 oz and was 22.5 inches! He outgrew newborn diapers this week. He really never should have been in them but we had a ton so I wanted to use what we could!!

This blog will definitely take a backseat right now as I learn to juggle a baby and an attention starved ( at least according to her) toddler!

Asher's Birth Story

As previously mentioned we began our induction process on 11/15/14 at 5:00 p.m. We checked into the hospital around 4:45 and began our paperwork.

Cytotec (oral medicine) was administered at 6pm-10pm-2am, and pitocin was
started at 6am 11/16. When I arrived I had not dilated any further than a 1 and my cervix was very posterior. This baby wasn't dropping which made me think the cord was possibly around the neck or they weren't in the correct position to put pressure on my cervix!

I was checked before the pitocin began and I had dilated 3-4, thank The Lord! The next 5 hours my contractions got stronger (remember NO PAIN MEDS OR EPIDURAL!), and more frequent and became harder to manage. Each time they checked me I had not progressed. This was discouraging. I told Jarrod at my next check if I had not changed I was going to need something to manage my pain.

Around 11:30 I was checked and the nurse was excited... I was dilated to 6cm and my cervix had began to move forward! Praise God this was just the encouragement I needed to keep going!!

The next several hours were a blur as I began to transition. Jarrod kept me as comfy as possible, he's an amazing partner! Around 2:45 it finally became time to push.... We were prepared to push a few times and have a baby since it went so well with G.

ONE HOUR LATER, still no baby. We discovered he was face up instead of face down which meant he was working against me trying to push him out! I was defeated. Exhausted. Frustrated. I had lost hope that I could deliver this baby.

My doctor decided we needed to take a break... She came back in around 4:15 and was very serious with me. She said "Lindsey you have 15 minutes to push this baby out or I'm doing a csection"... That's what it took. At 4:42 pm on 11/16/14 I pushed out Asher Boone Evans!

Of course the drama doesn't stop there.....baby boy had the cord around his neck and my doctor immediately cut it off and freed him. She held him up so we could see the gender and he had his legs crossed! An eternity (or 5 seconds) later I saw it was a him and proclaimed "ITS A BOY!!!".

My doctor began to hand him to me and he acted like he was choking and his eyes rolled back. Scary few minutes there but the nursery nurses stimulated and suctioned him and he let out a whimper, music to our ears!

Once we laid eyes on him we knew he was a big boy. He tipped the scales at 10 pounds and 3 ounces, he was 22 inches long. I'm still in shock I birthed a 10 pound baby!!

Asher Boone had a very dramatic delivery and we are so thankful God kept his hand on us all! We love our sweet boy and he's definitely a mommas boy!!

41 weeks! (JK)

Today I would have been 41 weeks pregnant with Baby Evans... However my doctor and I decided to begin the induction process on 11/15 at 6:00 pm. I truly wanted to wait longer but Saturday night worked best for everyone. I'm sure glad I didn't wait a day longer!

Graceyn came the day before her due date so when this one was late I began to wonder if our dates were off? It's a second child it's supposed to come earlier right??? WRONG.

When my doctor kept saying how high up the baby was I began to wonder why. I had already concluded that the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and they were possibly face up (but head down) in position. Neither of these are too serious, so I wasn't too worried.

I will post a separate post with our birth story. I'm not a fan of inductions, especially ones that seem unnecessary. And I really wanted another all natural, medicine free delivery and I was determined to TRY that with my induction.

All that matters is a healthy baby in the end and boy did I get that. Meet ASHER BOONE EVANS, my son! Born 11/16/14 at 4:42 pm weighing in at a whopping 10 pounds and 3 ounces!! Birth story to come.....

My Days with G

I'm trying to cherish my last few weeks with ONE child. She has no idea what's about to happen to her world (and frankly I don't either!!). I love only working three days a week. We get a lot of days at home together with nothing that has to be done!

We usually start our mornings around 800... Of course I'm up off and on from 4am.. I usually am awake by 7 but I lay in bed snuggling her until she wakes up. This is our typical wake up:

G: where's daddy?
Me: he's at school
G: can I see him?
Me: yes this afternoon when he gets home.
G: get up momma (as she's climbing out of the bed) let's go the the wiving (living) room and play!

Same convo every morning! She is so funny. We go eat breakfast (we've been making muffins and she LOVES them!). I told her yesterday we would make muffins and she said "I wuv muffins, they are good for my tummy!"

See?? HILARIOUS!

We usually play until 12ish when it is time to nap. She's really been fighting going to sleep lately so I told her she didn't have to sleep she just had to lay in bed. 10 minutes later and she was OUT! She's working on her bargaining skills and I'm not a fan!

After nap we play some more or watch TV (Baby Einstein and Mickey are her current choices). Daddy comes home by 4 and they play the rest of the night!

She's at such a fun age right now, she keeps me laughing. I hope the new baby doesn't mess her up too bad!

Pregnancy

Lately I've been thinking of my pregnancy with Graceyn and this one. I vaguely remember anything from mine with G, is that terrible?? I thought I would make a post about the benefits of baby #1 vs baby #2!

Baby #1
Tired? Take a nap! Go to bed when you want. Put your feet up! What little sleep you get at night is interrupted by bathroom breaks.

Baby #2
Tired? Too bad toddler wants to play! No time to nap! Lay in bed watching Mickey and try to catch 5 minutes of sleep. Wake up its 4,5,6 am!!! Come on momma let's go!! What little (more like even less) sleep you get at night is interrupted by bathroom breaks and terrible sleeping toddlers moving or crying wanting to be rocked back to sleep at 3am!

Baby #1
Craving anything? Eat it when you want!

Baby #2
Craving chocolate milk? Better make extra to share with your toddler! Wait, she drank it all? Better try to sneak a glass next time.

Baby #1
Nursery? Check. Name? Check. Hospital bags packed? Check. Wait 5 more months for baby to arrive.

Baby #2
Nursery? Ha. Name? Baby. Hospital bags packed? Maybe I'll grab a few things as I walk out the door. Hope that at least something is completed before baby arrives.

Baby #1
Awe I felt her move - here feel her.

Baby #2
Not real sure when the last time I felt you move was. Push on stomach to make baby move. Ok he/she is still in there.

My poor poor neglected second child. I can only imagine life when you get here :)

Blessed.

TWO!

Today Graceyn turns two. I'm not sure how to feel about this, it's sad my baby is no longer a baby. She is a little girl! I just cannot believe how quick the past 2 years have gone.

We spent the whole weekend celebrating and her real birthday fell on Labor Day, so she had a 3 day celebration! She had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed party/cookout. Hopefully I will have pics up soon...

When she woke up this morning I told her Happy Birthday and she said " Let's get this birthday started, eat cupcakes and open presents!" Ha. She has a plan!!!

We spent the day reminiscing of our drive to the hospital, looking through delivery pictures, and loving our sweet girl. They say the "terrible twos" are rough, and we felt she started about a month ago, but this last week she has been the sweetest! We get hugs for no reason :) I hope this sweetness lasts a while!

I'll do my 30 week update tomorrow... For now I must snuggle my TWO YEAR OLD and hold back the tears..

Blessed.

29 weeks!

29 weeks with Graceyn
29 weeks with Baby Evans #2

How far along? 29 weeks!

Symptoms: Acid reflux, swelling hands and feet (eek!) - Dr said it looked fine though!

Total Weight gain/loss: After my huge gain last week I may never weigh again lol

Sleep: I sleep great for 6 hours and then I'm wide awake. Of course I toss and turn all night!

Food Cravings: After I failed my 1 hour glucose test I decided to cut back on sweets. It's tough!!

Best Moment this week: We are back to our routine of work and school. I failed my 1 hr glucose test and took my 3 hr one on Friday. My doc is out of the office so I hope to hear something soon!

Movement: It moves all the time... Jarrod talks to it and it moves for him (most of the time).

Labor signs: None thank goodness! I can't believe I'm so close to meeting it!

Gender: No clue and not finding out! Some times I think I wish I knew but I know it will be more fun to find out when he/she is born!! Right now I'm leaning towards girl but we all call it "him" when we talk about it.

Belly button in or out: In-ish. It's working on making its way out.

What I miss:   Nothing that I can think of right now!

What I am looking forward to: I am now on every 2 week appointments and we will be 30 weeks at the next one. This pregnancy is flying by!

Milestones: Another week down almost 30 weeks... Eek!!

Weekly wisdom: (keeping this same one - its still tough) We are in the midst of a difficult time with Graceyn (terrible twos I'm assuming). She can defeat us very quickly and make us wonder why we would ever want another child. And then two minutes later she makes us realize what a joy she is to us and why we want so many kids. If you're having a tough time in parenting HANG ON! It won't always be that way!!

Blessed.

28 weeks!

How far along? 28 weeks!

Symptoms: Acid reflux, swelling hands and feet (eek!) - Dr said it looked fine though!

Total Weight gain/loss: I'm ashamed to put this. I've gained TEN POUNDS since my last appointment. Oh geez. That makes a total of 19 pounds gained. Better stop now haha.

Sleep: It's as though I only need 6-7 hours each night. I wake up if I try to get more than that!

Food Cravings: I still love chocolate milk! Everything gives me acid reflux, yuck!

Best Moment this week: We just returned from a week at the beach and it was wonderful! Much needed for all 3 (or 4!!) of us.

Movement: It moves all the time... Jarrod talks to it and it moves for him (most of the time).

Labor signs: None thank goodness! Heart beat was 150s at today's appointment.

Milestones: Another week in the books! Glucose test today hope it goes well!

Blessed.

27 weeks! (A few days late!)

How far along? 27 weeks!

Symptoms: Acid reflux, swelling hands and feet (eek!).

Total Weight gain/loss: Haven't weighed lately... I go to the doctor Monday (after a week long vacation). I'm sure I've packed on the pounds lol

Sleep: It's as though I only need 6-7 hours each night. I wake up if I try to get more than that!

Food Cravings: I still love chocolate milk! Everything gives me acid reflux, yuck!

Best Moment this week: As of 8/7/14 I am Lindsey Evans, RN, BSN!!! And now we are in Gulf Shores on vacation.

Movement: It moves all the time... Jarrod talks to it and it moves for him (most of the time).

Labor signs: None thank goodness! I'm getting an occasional Braxton Hicks or just baby laying funny and making it feel tight!

Gender: No clue and not finding out! Some times I think I wish I knew but I know it will be more fun to find out when he/she is born!!

Belly button in or out: In-ish. It's working on making its way out.

What I miss:   Nothing that I can think of right now!

What I am looking forward to: Enjoying the rest of our vacation. Back to the real world next week!

Milestones: Another week in the books! Glucose test on Monday, can't believe it's already that time!

Weekly wisdom: We are in the midst of a difficult time with Graceyn (terrible twos I'm assuming). She can defeat us very quickly and make us wonder why we would ever want another child.
