Wichita 2013

We are on the road back from Wichita, KS. We have thoroughly enjoyed our 1500mile round trip! Wichita assembly hosted a youth meeting this year and we decided to make the trip (with a 10 month old....)

This is one of many road trips I'm sure. Although Graceyn has already been to St. Louis and FL! We've decided she will be a traveler like her parents.

We had several wonderful services while in Wichita. It amazing to see what God is doing. We thank The Lord for keeping is safe on this journey and we look forward to the next one!

How do you survive 14 hrs in the car? Lots of snacks, games, DVDs and silliness!!

Blessed.

Our Delivery Story

So we timed contractions over the next few hours until they were a consistent 5 minutes apart. During this time I tried to relax and enjoyed a warm bath in our garden tub! Around 11pm I told jarrod it was time to head out. He still had to take shower... (WHAT??)

He wasn't convinced this was the real thing so he was taking his time! Lol. Anyways we arrived to the hospital after midnight on September 1st. The nurse checked me and I was dilated 4 and she felt that I was in labor. Jarrod went down to get our bags and my water broke while he was gone! Even after that he was completely convinced that they would not be keeping me!

I chose to labor without the help of any medication, the next few hours were a blur of rocking in a chair, laying in the bed, and BREATHING! Lol. I could not have gone through it without the help of my husband - he was phenomenal!

Finally I reached my breaking point.. I could not do it any longer. I asked for pain medicine - jarrod and my nurse both knew how much I didn't want medicine so they both said NO. What???? (I thanked them later for that) Well I needed to do something! My nurse checked me and I was at a 10... TIME TO PUSH!!

After less than 30 minutes, our prayers were answered. At 5:34 am on September 1,2012 we saw her face. Graceyn Brielle was 7pounds, 15ounces and 21 inches long. Pure joy was what I felt! I was in cloud nine for days!

The sweetest face I've ever seen. Thank you Lord.
1 Samuel 1:27
"For this child I prayed, and The Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him."

Graceyn cont

Ok so ill spare you the 39weeks and 6days of boring details and just hit the high points!

1/30/12 our first OB appt.
Oh the nerves! We were excited/scared at this appt. I was 9 weeks (I think). My Dr said everything looked good and asked if we wanted an ultrasound to hear the heartbeat (of course!). So down we went to the ultrasound department. We heard the heartbeat (174!) and saw one teeny tiny baby. Then we breathed a sigh of relief!

Fast forward 7 months. I gained weight (and got fatter), passed my glucose test, found out we were having a GIRL!, and had great checkups. My last day of work was 8/27/12 and my 39 week dr appt was 8/28. I was dilated 1-2 and 80% effaced. It could be anytime (or never). I did not want to be induced, I wanted to have her as naturally as possible! My doctor said she would let me go 1 week over before she induced. So we scheduled a nonstress test for the next week and I started praying baby girl would come on her own!

Friday 8/31/12
I woke up (from what little amount of sleep I was getting) around 4 am wide awake! I had a pain in my belly and I wasn't exactly sure what it was. I pittled around my house all day and went to eat lunch with Jarrod (Mexican - what else when you're trying to go in labor?). I told him about the pains I had been having (about one an hour), he brushed it off as nothing.
We have church on Friday nights, so when he got home from work we started getting ready for church. I decided that I just wasn't feeling quite "right". I didn't feel like I needed to go to church. Jarrod wondered if he should stay home with me.. The convo went like this:
J "Are you in labor? Do you want me to stay home with you?
Me "I don't know, I've never been in labor before! Do what you feel like."
So he decided that he would go to church and I would call if I needed him. Well he made it out to the car and it had been 10 minutes since my last "pain" and I had another one! Thankfully he came back in to check on me, and decided to stay home. We started timing these "pains" (and decided they were contractions) and they were coming regularly about every 10 mins!
Ok now what? The waiting game began. It was around 7pm so we let all our family know they may want to rest up because there was a good chance that we would be having a baby that night!

The story of Graceyn

The main reason I decided to start writing this blog was to document Graceyn's life and the milestones that we go through with her! So here's how she came to be...

December 23, 2011. 2 pink lines! After almost one year of trying to get pregnant, and month after month of frustration there were 2 pink lines!! I couldn't believe my eyes (and I had worked 12 hrs that day, so I still wasn't quite sure I was seeing straight!). I was home alone, Jarrod was at church. I had all night to decide how to tell him. I decided to give it to him on Christmas Day as a present.. It was only 2 days, surely I could wait that long?!?!

WRONG. I couldn't wait. First thing Saturday morning I took it and showed him. His response? "It's negative". NO! Look 2 PINK LINES!! After some convincing he finally agreed that it was positive. Oh how excited we were! Our prayers had been answered. We figured it up and our baby was due 9/2/12.

To be continued....

Hey there!

After having this blog for 4+years, I have decided to start using it! A lot has changed in that time (mainly having a baby) and I've decided I need a place to record our lives! I'm going to try to update 2 times a week... We shall see!

So here's our intro! Happily married to Jarrod since August 2006 (WOW - almost 7 years!). We welcomed a sweet baby girl, Gracyen Brielle in September 2012. I am a dialysis RN and Jarrod is going back to school to be a PTA. Hope you enjoy our blog!
